(ECNS) -- A military cap from 1939, two Hero of the Soviet Union medals... These are the keepsakes left by Timofey Khryukin, a Soviet pilot who fought alongside the Chinese people against Japanese aggression. In Moscow, his daughter Natalia Khryukina shared the stories behind these items.
In 1938, Khryukin, operating under the alias "Hu Jintou", served as the Commander of the Bomber Unit in the Soviet Volunteer Air Corps to China. He flew approximately 100 bombing missions against Japanese positions. For his assistance to the Chinese people in combating Japanese militarists, Khyulyun was awarded the title of "Hero of the Soviet Union" in 1939.
Khryukina said that she has maintained close ties with the Chinese Embassy in Russia. "In China, some still remember my father's heroic story,"added Khryukina. (Chen Caixia)
