（ECNS）– Cambodia Airways announced on Sunday that it would launch a new direct flight from Phnom Penh to Hong Kong, starting April 1. The airline will operate this route three times a week.
A spokesperson from Cambodia Airways stated that the Phnom Penh-Hong Kong route is the fourth regular direct flight introduced by the airline in China's Greater Bay Area, following services to Macau, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou. With this new addition, Cambodia Airways now provides direct flights connecting all four major cities in the Greater Bay Area.
Additionally, the airline has adjusted the schedule for its Phnom Penh-Changsha flight, now operating during daytime. The Phnom Penh-Chongqing flight will also undergo a schedule change, with departures from Phnom Penh at 2:55 p.m. and from Chongqing at 8:25 p.m. These adjustments are aimed at further improving travel convenience for passengers between Cambodia and China.
Air Cambodia, the country's national carrier, also announced that during the 2025 summer-autumn season (March 30 to Oct. 25), it would launch a new direct flight from Phnom Penh to Shenzhen on July 10, and resume its Macau route.
Chang Ruolan, deputy general manager of Air Cambodia's Phnom Penh branch, highlighted that the airline's Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Macau routes would provide more options for enhancing connectivity with the Greater Bay Area, as well as other countries in the Lancang-Mekong region.
In addition, Air Cambodia will increase the frequency of its Phnom Penh-Bangkok route, expanding from daily flights to better accommodate passengers traveling from cities like Zhengzhou, China. This move is expected to strengthen the dual aviation hub between Zhengzhou and Phnom Penh.
As part of its expansion, the airline would also launch new routes from Siem Reap, Cambodia to several cities in China and plans to open new services from Phnom Penh to Japan and other international destinations.
