(ECNS) -- A magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck Eryuan County in Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China’s Yunnan Province, at 4:31 a.m. on Thursday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
The quake struck at a depth of 10 kilometers, with the epicenter located approximately 18 kilometers from the county seat. Residents in nearby villages reported strong tremors.
In response to the earthquake, Local authorities in Eryuan County have activated a Level III emergency response for earthquake relief. Fire and rescue teams have been dispatched to the affected area. As of now, no casualties have been reported.
